How We Help
We work with young women in Afghanistan who have demonstrated they have the ability and stamina to achieve their educational goals.
We are currently supporting seven female students who fit the legislative criteria to come to Scotland; they are our priority. We hope to progress onto supporting others who require funding to pursue higher education in other European countries.
We are fundraising to to provide grants to cover accommodation and living expenses for those eligible to come to Scotland to study.
What They Will Achieve
The students will first complete a foundation HNC course then move onto their degree courses. The students are all in their early 20’s and preparing for degrees in their chosen subjects:-
- Three aim to study Computer Science
- Three aim to study Medicine
- One aims to study Civil Engineering
Progression
The young women are presently volunteer tutors and are supporting teenage girls in Afghanistan who are prevented from attending school from 12 years old. Providing scholarships and grants to these young women to study in Scotland and internationally, will also benefit teenage girls in Afghanistan.
The young women will complete their degree programmes as qualified, empowered women who can begin careers of their choice and engage productively with society. This will be of substantial benefit to themselves, but also to those they will have contact with.
