WRITES was established by Olwen Kirkpatrick, a former Lecturer/Curriculum Leader (now retired) in Glasgow, Scotland.  The two other Trustees are John Moran, a retired Health Care Manager based in England and Anna Davidson, a retired Lecturer based in Scotland. 

WRITES is supported by young women in Afghanistan who help with research and guidance on Afghanistan related issues.
